    The Rocks: Sunset - B&W - Night

A couple of days ago, I drove to Kerpe about 2 hours from where I live to shoot the rocks in Kerpe. I started with a sunset and finished with light painting. Here are three shots.

Nice shots again! I'm actually least fond of the B+W - although I normally prefer B+W images, I think that in this case, the colours you've captured are just too nice to get rid of.

Of the 3, the first is my preference.

Murat these are all good shots IMO and involve a very strong composition. It's fascinating to compare the quite different effects that you get with the three images. They all work very well in their own way but I agree with Andrew and find the first version the most appealing. I think it's because of that subtle light from the sky falling on the right hand upper rocks. The B&W does have nice strong lines though.

The mono stands well in its own right but like Andrew, if I had to choose, I would prefer the colour version. The last one is different and I like that as well.

I cannot decide which of these I like more! They are all beautiful and have such a serene feeling to them.

Hi Batmura. I agree with the majority that one has great color. The only reason I would select the BW is that its water seems more natural to me. In its color version, I think the water has too much of a poured glass look especially where the water meets the rocks. Love the stars in number three.

I like all three but, the night shot really stirs my interest. The colors are quite exciting!

First of all I absolutely enjoyed all 3 shots. Especially the B&W.
Just an observation for #3 - the night scene. I find it confusing as I am assuming the photos were taken facing west. I see the 'cup' of the Big Dipper and I usually see this in the western sky. Yet, there is a lot of light from behind. As if there are 2 photos of a morning and evening layered. Am I wrong?

The B/W version for me - and I agree with Karm, the water has too much of a poured glass look for my tastes - my other hobby is sea fishing and it looks like a great place to have a go.

The OP mentions that he painted the scene with light, in the third photo.

I like all 3. The first may have the edge. Well done.
