    Hello to you all

Hi everyone, just joined this forum, it looks amazing.
I have recently purchased a nikon d5100, I'm a total novice when it comes to
Photography so any advice would be gladly received.
Macro is one of my main interests so info on lens types etc etc would be great
    Thanks
    Rob

    Re: Hello to you all

    Hi Rob,
Welcome to CiC, it's great to have you join us.
One of the best ways to progress on your photographic journey is to jump right in and post some pictures. This way we can give you some useful C&C, which will hopefully allow you to start improving your technique.
You can add your real name & a rough location, so it shows every time you post; just as I have done. Most of us use first names here and knowing a rough location helps if we make recommendations for purchasing kit or places to visit.
I look forward to seeing your pictures and talking to you further.
    Regards
    John

    Rob,
More members will respond to your post if you post in the 'Nature & Architecture' section of the site.
As you are trying to shoot so close to your subject I would highly recommend using a tripod, this should eliminate camera shake and allow you to focus on the spider. I note you are using multi-segment metering, perhaps try centre weighted or spot metering; play with the settings and see what you get.

    Rob,
I note you are using PSE9, if this correct then you would need you select the spider using the 'quick selection' tool and the using the saturation slider up the saturation a little; to it suits your liking. Then keeping the spider selected up the sharpness using the unsharp mask tool; again to your liking.
The main thing to remember here is that if the subject is out of focus nothing will correct this, it might look a bit better but will never be perfect.
