Hi guys,
Which author would you recommend me for buying a book for learning Lightroom 5? Scott Kelby or Martin Evening?
Best regards,
Antonio.

I am not familiar with Martin Evening; however from personal experience Scott Kelby's books are pretty informative.
One way to learn the basics of LR5 is Julianne Kost's (www.jkost.com/lightroom.html) videos. She is one of Adobe's gurus.

Bruce,
Thank you very much for your answer.
I prefer to buy a book because my comprehension of written English is much better than spoken English.
Cheers,
Antonio.
Philip,
I'm a newbie and I think is better for me a book that be easier to understand.
I will buy the book written by Scott Kelby.
Thank you very much for your opinion.
All the best,
Antonio.
Skip the book and watch the Julianne Kost videos, which are excellent and free.
The Kost videos are good, but don't/can't get into the same detail as a book. And you can read the book anywhere.
Comment about Evening and Kelby (personal view):
Kelby tells you how; Evening tells you how and why.
Kelby is funny, but after I've read the jokes twice, they get a bit thin.
The short answer is that I have all the books by Martin Evening starting from LR1.

+1 on Martin Evening.
Another good one (although he hasn't done a LR 5 version yet) is D-65's Lightroom Workbook, by Seth Resnick. Very practical, less detailed than Evening, but not as slick and jokey as Kelby.
Cheers
Tim
Martin Evening... Kelby is always selling Kelby. I've read Evening's LR4 and bought his Lr5 book.

In place of any book on Lightroom, I have found the online course by Phil Steele is an excellent way of learning. He is an excellent teacher and takes the student from the very basics to a high level of proficiency.
Hi Antonio,
Personally, I find more than one source useful.
I found Kelby's book a good introduction (I have the LR4 book, but I'm sure LR5 is very similar). It's easy to use and got me well started.
If you shoot in RAW, then I also recommend Jeff Schewe's The Digital Negative. It goes into great depth, and uses Lightroom (as well as PS and ACR) to illustrate all the techniques.
I find the problem with "how to" books like these, though, is that I can't always find what I want to refer to - I know it's there somewhere, but where? So I also have the PDF "Lightroom Hidden FAQ's by Victoria Bampton and think it a very good reference for LR5. As a bonus, once you buy one of her books, you become a member of Victoria's site, and she is very responsive in helping resolve issues.
It all depends on funds of course. I have also found that if you have a tablet of some kind, buying the e-book version of books works very well for me, as it it is easy to read alongside my computer.
Good luck!
