Dear fellows, I was away during the last couple of months. Many reasons contributed to that, such as a heavy workload and the death of my grandfather. After this, I took some vacation and did a trip to Pantanal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantanal), with my father, an uncle and a friend. The main purpose (to them) was fishing. To me, the main objectives were relaxing and taking pictures (although of course I also caught some beautiful peacock bass)!
We drove about 1200 km from the city of Uberlândia, to reach the lodge in Pantanal. The last 200km were off road, passing through the last farms and, finally, entering the Pantanal area.
I took lots of pictures and I am just starting to process them. About 95% of the images that I will post here were shot from a boat, many times moving at high speed and the subjects were on the shore. That was quite a challenge. I worked with high speeds to minimize the boat movement effect and used a 1.4TC during the brightest part of the day, to "bring" the subjects a bit closer. It was the best I could do.
I will kick this off with some landscapes and some of the many species of hawks I found there! As soon as I get more images processed, I will add them to this thread (please look at the following pages).
This thread is dedicated to the memory of my Grandfather, a great man that I will love forever!
1 - Petrovina Mountain range
2 - A huge farm before the Pantanal. Guess what they raise?
3 - This is one of the lakes, formed by the Piquiri river.
4 - A dead tree. The cormorants love them, to dry their feather after a dive.
5 - Southern Crested Caracara
6 - Caracara
7 - Great Black Hawk
8 - Great Black Hawk in action!
9 - Caracara in flight
