Re: My Goldie
Nice shot, good use of depth of field. May think of standing to the left a wee bit to take the pylon off the top of Goldie's head

Re: My Goldie
Good advice from David, always sweep your viewfinder for things like this before you press that shutter. Doesn't look right to me with the out of focus parts. I'm sure the dogs ear is on the same plane as the dogs leg which is out of focus. Also you have put in vignetting around the edges which spoils it for me. This is just my opinion.
Dave.

Re: My Goldie
Well; I might as well make it three Dave's/David's replying.
I agree the pylon (and wires) would have been better excluded at time of capture (perhaps clone out now?), also that the softened vignette is too much on her legs.
Additionally Sammy, I think you can afford to simplify the image further by cropping off the dark parts on right hand side.
That said; it is level, has good perspective and you haven't 'chopped her legs off', as many people do with their pets - how cruel

Agree with the three D's above.
I just want to add that she is a beautiful dog!
I like to use fill flash, even the built-in flash will do; in order lighten up the areas surrounding the eyes and provide catchlghts in those gorgeous golden retriever eyes....
