Horse in open field
This was shot somewhere in Montana when we were driving towards East Glacier Park. I took a few shots of this horse at an open field. This was the one that I liked most. The other two which I tried getting the sun to backlit the horse didn't work as the flare appeared on the wrong places on the horse.
3 bracketed shots, PP in PS. Hope you like this composition.

Re: Horse in open field
Like the horse, but...IMHO, it could work better with a square crop with just the horse.

Gorgeous! And I think Chauncey's suggestion works well.

Re: Horse in open field
Hi Steven,
I like the composition with the trees and the shadow going into the near left corner.
If I have one minor suggestion, it would be that if I had processed this, I'd have toned down the sunlit side of the horse by about half a stop.
Well done,

Re: Horse in open field
Hi Chauncey, Christina. Taking your suggestion, the clouds and shadow of the horse is abruptly chopped off. As Dave mentioned the shadow of the horse plays a part in the composition the image.
Dave, I think you are right that the sunlit side of the horse is a wee bit too bright.
Nadakumar, thanks for the view and comments.

Re: Horse in open field
Hi Steven,
After thinking I would like a square crop, and I do....I prefer the original crop perhaps just because the surrounding scenery is so beautiful.

Re: Horse in open field
It is a good angle for the handsome horse and the original format (or crop) is exactly right for me. However, although the exif data show that the original file time was 23:45:42??!!, it looks as though it was recorded well into daytime and the Sun was probably about 30 degrees above the horizon. That and the almost clear blue sky lead me to think that the image is a bit too yellow, and that there is not quite enough contrast throughout the scene. Just my opinions, of course.

Re: Horse in open field
I wonder if the camera is still set to Brunei time?
I agree with the 'too yellow' assessment, but overall a nice photo.
The original composition works for me as it shows the horse and its environment.

Re: Horse in open field
jcuknz, I think your blurred background kinds of work.
Christina I see where you are coming from.
Philip, your "investigation" kind of tickled me as George said; probably it's still in Brunei time LOLL
Yes, it's a handsome horse that's why it got my attention.
