    Me, myself and eye!

    Me, myself and eye!

Cookie self portrait. It has been described variously as freaky and/or beautiful.

Either way, it's me and the only distortion is in the perspective I used when taking the shot.

    All C&C welcome.

I like it How was the camera set up ? You could take the other side of your face and then put the two photos side by side.

The two descriptions are definitely not mutually exclusive; I think the photo is both freaky and beautiful. Well done!

I'm glad to know that you avoided the stereotype (which I probably would have used) of displaying exactly half of your face.

I adore this photo... By the way you have beautiful eyes.

I'm curious as to whether this is an old weathered photo or a new photo that you post processed to look old and crinkly (the photo, not you)....

A very striking image as are many you post. I agree with Mike's comment above. Also reminded me of Luis Bunuel's 1929 film 'Un Chien Andalou", which once you've seen is hard to forget.

It certainly is George as indeed is'L'age D'or'

Christina...thank you for your lovely comments. The picture is new and post processed using a 'daguerrotype'effect.

Mike, Warick and Bruce ..thank you for commenting. Simple hand held shot with camera above and me looking up. I was just mucking about....as usual!

I'll settle for mucking about if my images came out so spectacularly well.

Thank you for sharing. I looked up daguerro effect and I find that quite fascinating. Perhaps one day I will give it a try...

Haaa..thanks kaye, I have a lot of experience in 'mucking about' been doing it all my life

Christina...there are lots of ( mostly free or small subscription) editing suites out there that have Daguerrotype and Tintype effects to experiment with. If you ever want to try and can't come up with something you like then PM me and I will point you in the direction of some.

Thank you Sharon... I still have to learn the basics of editing but once I do for sure I will check with you. I like your style of processing very much.

Very different image that works well for me and so better in B&W and love the composition of half a face and the mysterious person/object that the eye is staring at. One thing for me that would have made it better would have been able to see the iris, how big or small it was and I can see catchlight there, maybe you wanted it that way.

Though I see the similarity of a Daguerreotype in the overall style, the jagged, diagonal line on the face appears to be torn paper, which removes it from the realm of a Daguerreotype. That fact doesn't make the photo any less enjoyable for me but just wanted to point it out for those who aren't aware that Daguerreotypes are made of polished metal.

Mike..there are a few processes I have used here and i haven't documented them all but the Daguerrotype was the effect that Christina was asking about. The torn paper I am sure we can all find.
