Have I failed you?
Any C&C will be much appreciated.
If your eye is not immediately drawn to the bud surrounded by the 5 pointing leaves and the thread of spider web, then I have failed you in my attempts to capture beter images.

Re: Have I failed you?
Seen large it does, small it does not quite draw the eye.
Viewed large shows the wonderful details etc and you no doubt intended.

Re: Have I failed you?
I think, for me, you accomplished your goal. The only thing that I could say that would make it pop more would be if the background weren't the same colors as the point of focus. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Have I failed you?
Andre, lovely quality in this. My only thought is that you could crop the stem at the bottom. Its light colour is slightly distracting for me and losing it put the centre of attraction on the third with the excellent OOF counterfoil at the back. Just a thought.

Re: Have I failed you?
That is quite impressive; i too feel the spider's thread need be removed for better focusing on the subject

Re: Have I failed you?
A slight crop was also my first thoughts, mostly from the bottom which should add a little to the emphasis on the bud. Probably sufficient space on the left which could be reduced if you want to retain the same size ratio.

Re: Have I failed you?
The opening bud is amazing, Andre, but I find the odd strand of web a bit of a distraction.

Re: Have I failed you?
I am with Geoff and recommend a crop. If you cropped out the bottom stem with the competing warm/orange tones it would emphasis those tones more in the main bud and place the bud near a third improving the composition. The web does not worry me and is just down to personal preference.

Re: Have I failed you?
Andre,
My attention was drawn immediately to the bud but that was to be expected due to its sharpness. I would agree with the other comments that another crop could be considered.

Re: Have I failed you?
Nice shot, Andre. I would try toning down the stem before cropping it. Though, that might mean some dreaded pp for you

Re: Have I failed you?
Works for me. I think the web distracts a little though.

Re: Have I failed you?
Hi All,
I really do appreciate all the comments. Very constructive and positive.
Thank you for the nice compliments.
The spider thread was left in there for a purpose. The crop suggested by some does work.
The object was to find out what draws your attention. Grahame (Fiji) said what I was after –
“to the bud, but that was to be expected due to its sharpness”.
SHARPNESS DRAWS ATTENTION!
Thank you Mr. Southern!
