Nice capture, you can really see the details. Was wondering tho if there is there a way to darken the wings or the leaf? IMHO they seem to have the same tonality and it caused me to have to really look to see the butterfly. Im new to both here and photography so please take ths with a grain of salt.

we are both new here and to photography. I could change the vignette and try for a different tone.

    Hi Brian,

Can i ask what equipment you used and at what aperture you took the photo? As this will help me give you more advice on how to improve the image.

The butterfly might be better placed if you crop away about one third of the left side. Now some of my attention goes to the leaf instead of to the butterfly. How close were you to the butterfly and did you sharpen the image?

I was within 3 inches and yes i sharpened it up. I was concerned with too much of the Butterfly being left of center but yes cropping more off the left is certainly an option.

    Hi Brian,

The camera type does explain the distracting background, not a bad attempt. The leaves are definitely distracting and need darkening down quite a bit.

    Here is one of mine.

    Hi David,

The set up was a Nikon D700 with my trusted Nikkor 200mm micro f4 on it. It was taken at f22 and about 150mm from the end of the lens.

    Cheers
