    Butterfly take 2

I re-cropped to move the B. to the left a bit and I have tried to subdue the background. I am finding that I am running out of options with the Photoscape software I am using. I was using Gimp but it constantly crashes. Any suggestions on free software?

Hi Brian - if memory serves me correct you have done a good job on the image in post processing but might I suggest that in future that you post modifications of an image in the original thread so that others can see the improvement/change.

In this case I like the texture that you have brought out in the butterfly but I personally find the vignetting a bit strong and also distracting so that goes against what you were trying to accomplish for the background. A subtle black vignette that is barely noticeable would be a better way to focus the attention on the butterfly IMHO.

Which Photoshop program are you using? I have CS5 and can't imagine ever reaching the end of my options just the end of my knowledge. The two major learning curves in photography are technical in camera skills and the post-processing and it take a lot of diligence (and time) to even come close to mastery in either - not to mention learning the terminology but that is where this site, Google and You Tube are your best friends

Point taken post to the original thread. you are undoubtedly right about not having mastered either the camera or the post processing. I was using Gimp but it kept crashing. For now it is mostly Photoscape. Pension being what it is a free program is the only program for me.
