Food Photos
Hey all,
I'm back again to share some food photos. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to get out with my camera because I've been busier with work and recently I set up a reef aquarium. Which actually makes me think that I should post some of the macro shots I've been doing of my tank's inhabitants. Anyway today I did a little food shoot. I'll probably be going back to do a few more when the chef finishes his new fall menu.
Kabocha pumpkin pie with candied cranberries, coconut mochi, crystalized fennel seeds and coconut sorbet
I found the chocolate leaves to be interesting on this plate. The chef somehow uses actual leaves to mold the chocolate in their shape.
Coconut panna cotta, caramelized pineapple, pistachio financier, kiwi berries and pistachio gelato
Oh and they were delicious
CC always welcome,
-Jason

Re: Food Photos
Thanks. They were so delicious. I can't wait to go back and shoot the rest of the fall menu. The bowl shot was challenging to handle the lighting because of the shadows from the pineapple slice. Looking back on it I wish I made the pointed shadow line up with the flow of the plate

Re: Food Photos
That's a good gig to get................
Your description of the dish just makes the mouth water more.
The first is the better shot, the second a tad over exposed ?

Re: Food Photos
Yeah I love that I get to go back and eat everything every few months when the menu changes. I keep my hopes up that it will eventually lead me to other clients but it hasn't panned out yet.
Maybe just the gelato on the second one is slightly over? The chef wants me to re shoot the plate because he doesn't like the plating. So I'll get another chance with it. Also I may be re-doing the first shot since he wanted to see what an overhead shot would look like and i got a bad specular highlight on the chocolate leaf.

Re: Food Photos
Jason,
Personally I believe that all food shots should be banned from CiC unless we all get a sample
Seriously, well done and congrats on the published picture I know how it feels.

Thanks guys!
For what its worth the photo is published with the recipe for the pumpkin pie. I don't even like pumpkin pie that much and I thought it was delicious.
