    A4 photo printer

Hi all, It's been a long time since I was last on the CiC forum but it's "still the best so forget rest".

I'm looking for a new A4 photo printer as my much loved Canon IP8500 has passed it's "best before date". Can anyone recommend a current printer that would produce quality prints equal to, or better than the IP8500.

My larger (not on the day or demand) prints are done by an excellent print company based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Many thanks in advance for the advice.

    Cheers!
    Nigel.

Nigel - Great to see you in here again.

I can't be of much help I'm afraid, just having entered the murky world of printing, but with the A3-capable Epson R3000. I don't have knowledge of what's the 'thing-to-have' in terms of an A4 printer.

Hi Donald, it's really good to be back and great to be greeted by yourself on my first post in quite a long while. I trust you are keeping well? Oh, welcome to the world of large and expensive pieces of paper, inks, and prints that never produce "just" the right colour or shade that you wanted... Oh dear, that will have to go in the bin! Yes, fast boats are cheaper to run than a photo printer!

I'll wait a while and see if there are any replies from around the globe to my A4 post before I ask about the A3 printers.

    Cheers!
    Nigel.

Just a quick update. Due to the lack of advice regarding a decent A4 printer (probably because no one uses them anymore) I decided to buy a Canon PRO-100 A3+ printer. It is a monster size but the prints onto Ilford Gallerie Premium gloss paper are just outstanding!

    Cheers!
    Nigel.
