I have known this man since the seventh grade. We have journeyed through Life together and have seen it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. There has been plenty of each.

I have heard him play more than any other musician ever and that is saying a lot.

I believe he is one of the Premier Jazz Trombonists in the World today.

What he does with that horn is unprecedented. He sets the bar way above reach with what he does.

So I have been chasing this shot for a while now and this is the closest I’ve come to getting it to date!

I wanted the player slightly out of focus with the trombone bell the subject, in focus and an “in your face” kind of thing.

You certainly achieved that aim very well indeed. I think that if the microphone had not been intruding into the framer it would have been an even stronger image. Given your friendship, will you be able to set up this shot again, but not have the mic in view?

Thank you for taking the time to view and comment everyone.

Donald given our friendship I could probably get him into a studio environment but I’m not sure I want to do that. Of course I’d never know until I tried but I would wonder about losing the electricity performers generate during a live performance. I wholeheartedly agree about the mic, but its just a necessary evil in a live show.

John he has recorded but nothing that has been released on a major (national or international) label, unfortunately (yet).
