To capture images of Migrating Raptor.
Hi, Good day everyone,
I am planning to go for an outdoor bird-shootings this coming weekend. The location as I am informed is a regular migrating path of some raptors such as the Black Baza, Chinese Sparrowhawk and the Oriental Honey Buzzard.
My planning gears' combo is my D7000+70-200mm f/2.8G VRII+ my TC20E III and this goes with my monopod. I tried this combo before in the bird-park and result is acceptable.
(I definitely would like to go with my D800 as I really love its high-reso but am a bit worry about its slow fps in burst mode. I am afraid to take that risk! Shall I ?)
I think shooting in the wild will be a big difference than playing in the bird-park. Any advice from you guys ?
Please if you have anything to let me know.
Thank you guys.
Regards,
Albert.

Re: To capture images of Migrating Raptor.
You can get away without a fast burst rate if you are able to accurately anticipate the correct moment to press that shutter.
Panning, with auto focus lock on, should give you a bit of leeway. But it is always tricky because you have to anticipate the reaction time taken to actually press the shutter if you want perfect wing position.
Easier with gliding birds of course.

Use the D800 in burst mode...insure that your AF is properly set up for a search after proper lock on.

Take the two as it will give you practise with the D800.
