Hi Tony,
Beautiful flower, but none of it looks sharp (in focus)
Cheers David
The back of the flower is better focused, but still not completely sharp.
With that scene, I would have used a narrower aperture, at least F11 and increased the Iso as required.
Was this hand held or on a tripod? I would always use a tripod, or other support, for this sort of shot. Auto focus can work OK but it does risk getting false focus problems so I usually prefer to manually focus in these situations.
If you can't get it all in focus, it normally looks better if the closest point is sharp then gradually fading towards the rear.
Hi Tony,
When shooting flowers use a tripod and manual focus. Focus on the area that looks right, trough the viewfinder. Select carefully where YOU want to focus.
(I see Geoff has already suggested this - Confirmed!)
Leave the EXIF info in tact in the images, it makes it easier to help you.
The back leaf is in focus which suggest to me the AF picked that out to focus on. You HAVE to know what your lens DOF is like in any F stop. Also if you can't control what your camera is focusing on go manual focusing and focus on the subject.
