    In two minds whether to take out the leaves/bush to the left. Couldn't get a clear capture of the bird. Comments please, leave in or take out. I use Aperture for PP.

    Hi Dave,

    I never know whether to call you Dave or Dusty?

    Beautiful bird and wonderful detail. If it were my photo I would crop it in half (vertically) plus just a smidge off of the top... Which leaves just a little bit of the green reflection, and all of the beautiful bird...

    Hi Dave,

    I would crop like this;
    (If you'd rather I didn't post the example cropped image in your thread, let me know and I'll remove it)

    Young Sygnet Black Necked Swan

    That's because I don't think the reflection is contributing much - it also has an oof red thing in front of it.

    In this crop, I would remove the separate green oof foliage that is nearest the cygnet, but leave the bigger bit in the corner.

    I would also spot heal to reduce some of the floating detritus on the water.

    Good exposure and focus, giving a lovely texture to the feathers, well done.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks for all your views, most welcome.

    Christina, as you can see from the image I have posted I have taken on board your comment about splitting vertically and cropped some of the top off and I like the image so much better. Call me Dave.

    Dave I am a sucker for reflections so I have left that in but your cropping helped me a lot.

    Nandakumar a very good try to give me what I wanted but on my monitor the image is a tad to dark in tone but thank you very much.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave,

    I think it looks wonderful and I'm glad it worked... I'm still learning to crop my own photos properly.
