Hi Bobo,
Both images are absolutely stunning... Love the background, the light and detail captured in the bird. I'm sorry to see that he/she is missing a foot but not needed to fly and hopefully he/she can stand on one leg.

The second one is tremendous. I don't like the first one as much because of the bright foreground item.

Thanks Mike. I could have tried to clone the foreground railing but ----
a/ ps skill not up to scratch
b/ not the kind of shot worth spending too much time on.
Plus - another photographer and myself returned to the same location a week or so later and were able to observe him flying around. I tried to get some landing in the water shots but was not able to get a clear view.
