Seen this guy swimming in the tide pool hunting fish then he jumped out right in front of me for a nice photo session.

These are difficult birds to capture Roger,

Well I find them so; the ones around here often spend 30-50 seconds under water and pop up tens of metres from where the dived for just 5 seconds, that's long enough to spot them, focus, compose - and curse as they disappear again

These are quite the best I have seen; very nice lighting, focus, backgrounds and exposure.

Stunning! I agree with Dave, the best I have seen. I'm still trying for the perfect Cormorant shot and now I will carry a vision of #2 and #3 in my head, love #1 too!

WOW thanks for the great complement Dave! I got lucky the tide pool was shallow maybe 2 feet deep so you could see his feet flopping around as he was swimming, he had surfaced repeatedly and evidently didn't feel threatened due to he got out to sun on the rock directly in front of me maybe 20 feet away. It was one of those moments where you feel lucky and hope you don't screw it up.

I recently purchased the 300mm f/2.8L IS ll USM

...nice piece of work isn't it, on a 7D coupled with a 1.4 TC gives an effective 672 mm range.
Them's nice shots.
