I like the tighter crop better and agree with Mike that you should consider going even tighter. I'd be tempted to crop the left side and the arm is not really adding anything to the image.

I agree about your comment about how human they look. They are genetically very close to human (more so that even the chimpanzee) and in the native dialects in Borneo; orangutan translates as "man of the forest". I saw a wild one once, that was a real thrill.
