    A couple for C&C

I found this Heron the other day just standing there (on one leg) just begging me to take the shot. I could not get the angle I wanted so I settled...

Angles = the curse of bird photography. If only

At least he let you get close and gave you a couple of poses.

Overall I do like #1 a bit more than the other 2. Perhaps lighten up the shadows in the face area a bit ??

I like #1, beautiful light, setting and a wonderful pose indeed.

Jon, most of us would hack our arm off with a rusty saw to get that first shot.

    Love it!

I say that #2 is very nice, indeed! Both are beautifully focused but I prefer the 2nd image for the rich colours of the heron and the water... So the first image in the 1st set, and the 2nd image in the second set for me.

I'd hack both arms off* for the detail in #7

    * except I'd fail at that too, for obvious reasons

Oops, forgot to say well done, although I don't find the 'extra duck interest' in 3 or 4 beneficial, keep it simple is my motto.

1&5 would be my choice ... 7 is a good example of light colours fighting with the subject for attention ... the opposite, dark objects competing, as in 'The Tree'
Never met up with a trusting heron ... lucky you
