    A Hornets nest

These guys have started building their nest on a dead leaf whose stalk has come off the bush and is hanging just by luck.

I set up went to the location in the garden and could not understand what was going wrong, some shots black, there seemed to be a delay on pressing the shutter, exposures were poor and there seemed no consistency. Some numbskull has set my commander flash control to TTL for the two remote's instead of manual altered the ratio between the two flashes and somehow set up for red-eye reduction. I'm the only one that touches the camera

Anyway, surprisingly managed the below keepers.

I have tied the leaf stalk to a branch and in return hope the guys stick around.

    Comments welcome as always.

Very nice indeed! Tack sharp and beautifully photographed. I love the 3rd image.

Great images. I love the sharpness and the detail.

It gives me the willies to look at them though.

    Thanks Christina,

No 3 is also my fave but I'm so disappointed the lower hornet is so much out of frame as the eyes were sharp on both. But hopefully lots more opportunities with these new tenants in my garden but unfortunately I can not get an angle to show the front of the nest.

    Hi Cliff,

Thanks for the comments. It's the way they stare at you that I love but as long as you are careful with movement they do not seem bothered about the flash.

Grahame, that photo is so gorgeous... I see it as the lower hornet peeking into the frame look up at me..

First time I have seen images of Hornets, not sure we have them in the UK, well I have never seen any.
