Hello all
Hello,
My name is Truman, and I love photography.
I have lived all over the U.S. from Seattle, Southern California, Texas, Arkansas, Gulf Coast of Florida and now, Wisconsin. Over the years I have seen many sunsets and sunrises along with all the beauty in between.
My hobby for 20 years was music, from a musician to an engineer. I loved making something, be it live performances or studio sessions come alive for the audiences ears. Now as I get older and am slowing down I have found another very expensive (maybe not quite as expensive) hobby. They are in a theory the same aspect of art to a degree. Both are trying to accomplish the same thing, trying to give people something that they can lose themselves in and possibly be inspired by.
I am so happy to be on this new artistic journey. I have so much to learn, and that is why I am here. I need people to lean on, ask for advise, be critiqued by to help me accomplish what I am trying to accomplish with this.
If you see my work on here please give me your honest opinion and feedback.
I have just purchased my first DLSR an a Canon Rebel T3. I am going to be looking for advise on zoom along with wide angle lenses. You can see some a lot of my progressions at:

Here is a photo from today. I was really trying to get the yellow from the leaves and the yellow of the 2 rails on the boat to be the focal point and I think I could have accomplished it to a more extreme if I could have gotten the glare from the transom of the tug and the rocks in the bottom left reduced more. This made me wonder; is this what I would use a polarized filter for? Would this have reduced that enough for me?
Thank you,
Truman

Re: Hello all
Hi there,
For me, to focus on the yellow, I would have cropped all of the rocks from the bottom, up to about the middle of the posts, and then cloned out the rest of the posts. Just my idea.
Welcome,
Dave

Re: Hello all
Dave,
Excellent advise buddy. This was just a quick little edit, but that made the lower rail on the boat "pop" out more. Thanks you very much. I can edit some music, now to learn the editing tricks of photography.
Thank you,
Truman

Re: Hello all
Welcome to CiC, Truman. I checked out your link and you have some nice composition in some, I particularly enjoyed the arched bridge. One of your next purchase should be photo processing software, then you could select the boat and tweak saturation, contrast, etc. Ideally, removing the chairs and moving to the right would have made for a more homogenous background and avoided the blown out skies.
By the way, I'm from Minnesota and I am still smarting
