I'm not sure if this has any value. C&C welcome

This was a color image that I converted. Not sure if I've done a decent job and not sure if the image is worth keeping. Thoughts?

This image has LOTS of value. Stay away from the Delete key!

Consider a major crop to emphasize the water tower as the subject. Crop the right side so only one window to the right of the corner is displayed. Crop the left side to eliminate the roof structure on that side.

If you like that crop, notice that the dark part of the sky is mottled. Return to your color version and apply either Gaussian Blur or Noise Reduction to produce a smooth sky. Then apply your very nice conversion to monochrome.

For a bit more fine-tuning, notice the dark area near the top of the building on the left side. Lift that shadow area a bit to reveal more detail. You probably won't be able to display as much detail as exists on the right side because the light is different, but you should be able to display more detail than currently is being displayed.

It just now occurred to me that you might not have been thinking of the water tower as the subject. If you're thinking of the main building as the subject, consider cropping at the top to eliminate the water tower.

My choice would be to make the water tower the subject. That's because doing so includes both the tower and the gorgeous building that it serves.

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for your input and suggestions. Following your suggestions I went back to the original image. I also widened the crop on the right to include more of the architectural details and symmetry. I did a few other teaks as well. Let me know if I got it to where you were thinking. Thanks again.

I would suggest you dodge the architectural features in the building in post; they do look interesting, but are in shadow and are far too dark to do them justice.

    Manfred,
Thanks. Did we cross posts? Are you commenting on the first image or the second one I just posted? I did try to bring out more of the architectural detail.

I like your revised composition better than the one that I suggested. I have a tendency to crop too tightly and my suggestion is a good example of doing that.

Regardless of which version Manfred is referring to, I still think you could bring out more detail in the shadows on the left side.

Thanks Mike. I'll see what I can do. The detail is there, I think it got a bit lost as I adjusted levels. If you look at it in the lightbox and enlarge it, it's all there. I think maybe it's getting lost in the smaller image?

Though the details look far better in the larger version, I had seen the larger version before suggesting that there is probably more detail to be brought out. Try selecting that area and lifting the lower part of the curve upward just a bit.
