    Rose in direct sunlight

I underexposed and then tried to bring out the details in pp. I tried to remove all of the hot spots and imperfections but either I missed a few or for some reason new ones popped up when I posted. There was a serious hot spot at 7 O'clock behind the small sharp leaf. I used clone and blur and it doesn't look too bad?

I think it might pay you to download the original image before post processing.

The GIMP is a bit of a handful for a first time user. There is a program called Rawtherappee, free and for all platforms. You might like to try using that to get the picture as good as it can be before using some of the specialised features in the GIMP. Rawtherapee comes with a decent manual which can be a great help understanding what the various controls do.

Hi John, you must be a mind reader. I have found myself moving my photos between various software programs so if this can do all that i need i will be thankful.
