Black and White Printing Pixma Pro9000 MKII

Well I've just printed from Lightroom with the Greyscale box checked and colour Managed by Printer and I immediately have prints which have a brown (magenta?) cast!
I then tried with the same settings but using the ICC profile for the paper (Harman Luster) with the same media selected ie PhotoPaper Pro 2 which if I remember correctly is what Harman recommended, and got an identical result.
Finally I tried changing the media setting to Luster Pro and got a slightly pinkier shade of brown.
Finally I removed all the colour inks from the printer and tried to print again with just the black ink but the printer wouldn't allow me to do it!
I'm guessing that even on the greyscale setting the printer is using other colours?

OK I should stop panicking colour already changing as they start to dry.....

Hi Jennifer,

I have been having a look at my printer driver screens, and realise no-one has asked which driver you are using. The Pixma 9000 MkII on USB or the Pixma 9000 series XPS.
I stopped using the XPS one some time ago, because I was getting strange colours. Only recently I noticed that the Manual states that the XPS driver should only be used for 32 bit images.
Sometimes my Printer switches itself back to the XPS driver. This only shows up when I get to the preview screen. The image preview is on the LH side for XPS and on the Right for the standard driver.

One other thought. In the driver "Main" tab have you checked that all the colour sliders are zeroed. You get to them when the greyscale box is unticked and the "colour intensity" is set to manual. Once set, these sliders stay set. I assume that when using an ICC profile you have the "Matching" set to none.
