Re: 9 Point Buck
Lovely setting and well taken, that dappled light can often be a bit tricky. The perfect spot for it may have been another step forward. Certainly a healthy looking buck. The autumn leaves on the ground make a very nice lead into the scene.

Curious about settings Steve . Stopped action nicely, and retained a large Dof. I would like a slightly better contrast on antler and background, yet this shows how well deer can blend to almost any background. Do you care to share your settings and equipment used?

Hi James - If you're using Firefox you can get an add-on exif viewer. Otherwise you can copy the image location and go here. As long as the person posting allows the exif to stay with the image you can see it all...
Steve - very nice image. I agree with James the antlers are sort of disappearing into the background, but that does show the blending characteristics of the deer well.

Re: 9 Point Buck
While I would also prefer the antlers to be more visible, this photo for me is all about the legs, torso, neck and head. It's almost as if the deer is in a dressage competition.

Re: 9 Point Buck
Thanks everyone, this was shot under extremely tough conditions. Hard afternoon sun.........had to keep waiting for them to get into the shadows to take a few shots. Most shots either left the deer way underexposed or the sunlit background too blown out. Out of 300+ shots , I only got a couple I liked.
Here is the exif james. still the same gear I've always been using...............
