    Sunset on the Foothills Parkway

I believe this past weekend was the last gasp for good fall colors here in east Tennessee. By now there are more leaves on the ground than on the trees.

I went out to the Foothills Parkway on Saturday and Sunday just to get one more look at all the color. I ended up at the top of Look Rock (elevation ~2,700 feet) for the sunset.

#1 - There were still great pockets of color to be found:

#2 - Although it was sunny and bright on the parkway, it was raining on Clingman's Dome, about 20 miles away:

#3 - It was freezing cold and windy on Look Rock, but the sunset was worth it:

#4 - After hiking back down from Look Rock, as I was putting my gear back in the car, I looked over through the woods and saw this. Someone said that the point of light in the upper left is probably Venus.

    Thanks for viewing!

I love these sort of images with its muted tones.

A very nice set of images, Cliff. A good day out.

    Cliff,

Fall colours are something we never see where I am so this is the only way I get to see them these days.

I too like images such as No 3 and also the simplicity of No 4, thanks for sharing.

Nice set Cliff. I particularly like the contemporary feel of the third image.

Cliff, really like your no. 3. It has an inky look that I find appealing.

Nice series, Cliff. Even better, I'm going to be on vacation in late May early June next year in that part of the world. Sounds like another place to visit
