Re: playing with fabrics
A very interesting project.
The first image in particular, is almost like an abstract. It is very much all about colour, shape and pattern.
For me, the 2nd and 3rd images feel more like advertising shots rather than artistic images in their own right. That is obviously because the logo/name is the most prominent feature of the picture.
I think it's an exciting idea to pursue, particularly if you start putting folds into the fabric and then experiment with lighting. It would be well worth studying some of the master painters of the past to see how they dealt with fabrics/clothing in their paintings. Also, you should search on here for some of the portraits Phil (dubaiphil) has done of workers in the markets of Dubai. The way he has used the fabrics that the men wear, is excellent.

Re: playing with fabrics
Dear Mr MacKenzie,
The first image, I combine a fabric, called "batik" which made in Java Indonesia and a rug made in Turkey which has different patterns as well as the textures. And I found that the red color is still dominant compared to the purple one. So that the shape of the shirt is beautifully framed by the rug below it..
As for the 2nd and 3rd...yes I also feel it is like an advertisement.. I only wanna tried to focus, as close as possible, on the zipper, the texture and the nature of the fabric.. also I played with the angle...
I thank you for your advices... they give me some ideas !...
I also have looked the portraits done by Phil... the fabrics he used looks simple but they goes well with the character of the people..also the lighting has emphasized the texture, the color and the nature of the fabrics...looks so impressive...
