    Returning to port

Noticed this boat returning to the harbour, and really liked its colour. Never noticed all the seagulls until I uploaded it at home. I cropped it to bring more attention to the gulls following the boat.
    As ever comments appreciated.

A nice "end of day" shot. I like it.

    Thanks for sharing.

The birds are certainly an attractive element.

If you brighten the mid and bright tones (though without taking the histogram all the way to the right side) you might like the increased dynamic range. Then add considerable warmth to the entire image to retain the end-of-day mood.

David you mentioned that you liked the colour of the boat and Mike mentions brightening up the mid tones. Overall it looks dark on my screen so I was just wondering if you have calibrated your screen at any point. Most casual computer users have their monitors set to a fairly high brightness and contrast that falsely portrays an image (often blaming their printer for printing it to dark) If the bulk of the images you see on CiC look about right your monitor is probably set about right.

P.S. I have just added the histogram viewer Firefox add-on to the computer I am at and can see that the image histogram that is predominantly dark and probably should be adjusted.

Hi David - I downloaded your image to Lightroom and pretty much followed Mike's suggestions and it really brought out the colors and the golden evening light on that rock wall. Nicely captured!
