Recently I have received some Aviation Photographs from my friend, which are EXCELLANT IN AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHY By permission I am posting them here

In the bottom has that chap passed his test It looks just like Thorney Island with the beach right at the end of the runway; and there was some traffic lights in the middle of the runway so you have to know your highway code as well.

I don't why they don't give the pilot bigger windows, imagine driving a car with a windscreen (windshield) that narrow, and car drovers only have to cope with left and right, not up and down - it really does not make sense!

They can't need all those knobs and switches surely(?), it's just the aircraft designer 'showing off'!

I used to think that about DSLRs. All planes should have the equivalent of green box mode...and cars come to think of it...what is that manual shift nonsense all about anyway?

I'm really old and it looks like there are less knobs and dials on the new ones; but there is a routine for looking at them one at a time and I can't remember it. But mostly the important ones used to be in a T configuration and I suppose an autopilot is the equivalent of a green box but shouldn't be used to land or take off.

There's me going on about something I don't know about. I think Colin knows all about it.

No - a Dash 8 has a T-Tail & a 4 bladed prop

I suppose an autopilot is the equivalent of a green box but shouldn't be used to land or take off.

If you're doing a Cat 3B landing (less than 75 meters forward visability) you'd better be using the autopilot They also do takeoffs initiated by a TOGA button - sounds a bit like a kind of party, but stands for Take Off & Go-Around.

I used to know a couple of ATP's when I was lorry driving and I didn't believe them at first until one of them showed me a crown court summons. It turned out he owned a fleet of aircraft one of which he leased landed in a field. He proved he did everything right. The other was a girl he confirmed was a cargo pilot but only worked a couple of nights a week and made some pocket money driving lorries.

I haven't even been in a plane since I was seventeen but used to play with a simulator with a dash 8 taking off from London City and landing at Birmingham in the worst weather I could choose and at night. Got bored with that though.

I'm always interested in good pics of aviation especially from the inside, and these are excellent.

He was swinging his turn-around about a mile South of me when he noticed I was out taking pictures. His next 3 returns were right over my head. (Yes, those are power lines. )

It's amazing but I was in a DeHavilland Chipmunk probably from Coningsby when the pilot flew to Mablethorpe picked out his friend on a crowded beach and started to dive bomb at him.

His friend just waved with his fingers but everyone else around seemed to be moving away. This is true and I find it hard to believe some of the things they did including a very close encounter with a phantom.

The Cockpit one Colin; it has two engines gear down and looks familiar to a simulator I had several years ago. It is the bit under the windshield which I think was a sort of excuse for an autopilot I never used that may be a giveaway, but the engine dials in the middle are missing. It still looks about right.

Can't remember much about it now.

Very impressive, but even more amazingly stupid!

It reminds me of the time when I was in the airforce when one of the pilots took a mate for a fly in an A4K Skyhawk, and and came back with a small piece of pine tree branch in the wing tip where the nav light used to be; I heard that the "mate" turned him in for dangerous flying.
