    Hi there!

I am Roy, and I live in Ayr which is on the West coast of Scotland, just about 32 miles from Glasgow. I am not young, but only sometimes feel nearly as old as my years. I have been into photography since I was 14 and have progressed from Wet, Dark & Smelly processing to clean and civilised Digital. My main interest is, and always has been, in producing Prints. They were always in colour, but recently Mono has begun to creep back into my output. Current gear is a Nikon D300 and a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mk 2.

    Hi there!

    Hi
I think you might have posted the above in the wrong place, and I don't know how to move it to the equipment section.

    Re: Hi there!

Roy - My apologies for having missed your introductory post. A very warm welcome. Great to have another Scot/Scots-based member in the forum.

David's remark about coming from Kilsyth made me think of that lovely little bit that was in the diary column of the The Herald a couple of weeks ago upon the death of Jack Alexander of Alexander Brothers fame.

Upon arriving at immigration control in Canada, after having just landed to start a tour, they were asked to declare where they came from, Jack replied, "Cambusnethan". Tom told him not to be so stupid, as the immigration officer wouldn't know where Cambusnethan was. "We're fae Wishaw", said Tom.

    Re: Hi there!

    Thank you deetheturk.

I grew up in Springburn, so Kilsyth and the Campsies were well within an easy cycle trip. Most unusually it was warm and sunny during the Glasgow Fair Weekend this year, and the sand on Ayr Beach was almost invisible under the influx of Glasgow Keelies. My posted shot required a bit of "cloning out" to get rid of other members of Ayr Photographic who were along the waters edge taking pictures of Arran.

    Thank you.
I agree that the red border is a bit much, but......
It was originally made as a print, (46cm x 25cm) on A3+ paper and the bottom trimmed so that there is a 12mm white border all round. This was then flush mounted onto a board. The red border is ,(I think), really necessary in that situation. When registering here, I quickly looked for a recent image to post, and found a suitably sized copy of this print. I did not take time to remove the red border, as I normally do, when sending for projection or on screen use.
