Shutter Release Help...
Hello again guys!! As always if this post is in the wrong place feel free to move it to the right spot
Alright on to my question. I have purchased a jyc wireless remote for my D3100. If you've never seen a wireless release in this brand, the one I got has the reciever that plugs into the side of the camera, and the remote has a switch on it and a button. Feom what im getting from the directions all you have to do is plug it into the camera and shoot. When the button on the receiver is pusged the camera takes a photo. When the remotes button is pressed however all it does is turn a red light on, no photo. The four factory set switches on the reciever and remote match... so Im lost.
Any help anyone might have would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Re: Shutter Release Help...
Do you have to set your camera's drive mode to remote release? I'm not familiar with your camera, but some models require this.

Re: Shutter Release Help...
If both transmitter and receiver have batteries check to make sure both are good. If so then check to make sure that the camera has a focus lock on the subject you wish photograph, if not it will not take a shot.
Others will be along with more suggestions I am sure.

Re: Shutter Release Help...
I do not know the gear either but I imagine that the button on the receiver is a test button so if when connected to camera and the camera works the problem is earlier in the system.
I would bring the transmitter real close to the receiver and if it works it means the signal between them is not strong enough.
That might be weak battery in the gear or a signal not reaching the receiver problem. Even though it is a wireless signal things obstructing 'line of sight' may stop the signal getting to the receiver .... I was warned about this when I got my medic-alarm awhile back with my garden being nine metres higher behind the house where the 'works' [receiver] is situated next to where the phone line enters my house at the front.
If it 'works' close together the next testing is gradually moving the transmitter further away until it stops again and that maybe the maximum range of the gear ... which may or may not meet the specifications that you bought on.
Side point ... my cable release has a two stage button mimicing how the camera trigger works and the camera may take time to set itself up for the shot ... a very short time with a DSLR usually but worth considering and allowing for. So I always take half-trigger directly on the camera or with the release's button.
