Re: A Walk in the Woods
Composition and brilliant reds are appealing in #1, and it is nice to look at. - but the blue of the sky competes with the cherries for intensity. If you pushed some contrast/saturation in this (overall), I wonder if this push could be more selectively applied to your subject with less effect in the bright blue sky. In LR that would be using saturation and luminance sliders directly or indirectly for the cherries, with contrast, saturation otherwise backed down a little for the image as a whole.
I love the result with the leaf, and wonder if cropping it away from dead center (in one direction or another) might leave you with more interesting composition.
Seems to have been a nice walk.

Re: A Walk in the Woods
Mark, thanks for your comments. Regarding the blue sky, I did tweak the saturation slightly so the image would match the brilliant blue sky we had yesterday.
Regarding the leaf...well, sometimes I just don't think
Here is a cropped version...

Re: A Walk in the Woods
The leaf is beautifully aglow, and I like where you've put it!
