I have to admit that you do make an irrefutable point.

If I sent you the Skyy Bottle could you use it?
Sure! However, I don't yet have the experience of photographing colored glass. We should keep each other in mind through PMs about our respective glass collections. I have some things that you also might be able to use.
Re: Request for Broken Glass
Stamp collections, lens or camera collections but broken glass collections??? Are we to see photos of broken glass with with titles such as "this is from New Years Eve 1997 when my mother in law ...........". I look forward to it with anticipation:p
Re: Request for Broken Glass
I can't believe, Brian, of all people, that you mentioned three types of collections and didn't mention wine, not even your beloved Spanish wine. :D
Re: Request for Broken Glass
I'm very sorry to disapoint you Mike but I think wine is too serious topic to joke about! Hoard it, drink it but don't joke about it:D
Have you ever tried wine made from the Tempranillo grape? It is rare to get a bad bottle. A local supermarket is offering 6 bottles for 8€. Ataño is the name. Agood wine for putting the world to rights at the end of the day!
On hoarding,I've got a couple of 30 year old La Rioja wines. I trying to find an excuse to open them, so if you're in the locality one day......
Re: Request for Broken Glass
The inevitable has happened! I broke a vase while settling up a still life shot today and the broken pieces will soon be on their way to Mike :)
Here is a quick grab shot of some of the pieces.

I did think of trying to take a more serious shot but quickly realized that it would be put to shame by whatever Mike comes up with!
Re: Request for Broken Glass
Thank you, Shane! Looking forward to working with your broken glass!
Re: Request for Broken Glass
Sorry that I missed your post, Brian!
Rioja and other tempranillos are a regular in our household. In fact, I expect delivery today of a case of Rioja Riserva (or is it Reserva?). It's difficult to find a gran riserva in the U.S., but every few years I stumble across one.
I'm surprised that you're able to lay down a Rioja for decades. Such quality is probably only available in Spain or at least Europe. I've never heard of one that would hold up well for so long that is available in the U.S.
By the way, I discovered just this past weekend that my recent trip to South Africa had another benefit that I had not been sure of. I had sampled a wine made mostly of Colombard. Though I knew of the grape, I wasn't sure whether I had ever tasted it. I hadn't, which means that my trip to South Africa made it possible for me to document my 134th wine grape. Gotta love it!
Re: Request for Broken Glass
I happened to be in a Crate and Barrel store today, so I asked what they do with their broken glass. The employee told me that they have lots of it but they are forbidden from giving it or selling it to customers. That's because of the potential liability if someone cuts themselves on the glass.
