I have to admit that you do make an irrefutable point.

If I sent you the Skyy Bottle could you use it?
Sure! However, I don't yet have the experience of photographing colored glass. We should keep each other in mind through PMs about our respective glass collections. I have some things that you also might be able to use.

I can't believe, Brian, of all people, that you mentioned three types of collections and didn't mention wine, not even your beloved Spanish wine.

I'm very sorry to disapoint you Mike but I think wine is too serious topic to joke about! Hoard it, drink it but don't joke about it
Have you ever tried wine made from the Tempranillo grape? It is rare to get a bad bottle. A local supermarket is offering 6 bottles for 8€. Ataño is the name. Agood wine for putting the world to rights at the end of the day!
On hoarding,I've got a couple of 30 year old La Rioja wines. I trying to find an excuse to open them, so if you're in the locality one day......

The inevitable has happened! I broke a vase while settling up a still life shot today and the broken pieces will soon be on their way to Mike

Here is a quick grab shot of some of the pieces.

    Request for Broken Glass

I did think of trying to take a more serious shot but quickly realized that it would be put to shame by whatever Mike comes up with!

Sorry that I missed your post, Brian!

Rioja and other tempranillos are a regular in our household. In fact, I expect delivery today of a case of Rioja Riserva (or is it Reserva?). It's difficult to find a gran riserva in the U.S., but every few years I stumble across one.

I'm surprised that you're able to lay down a Rioja for decades. Such quality is probably only available in Spain or at least Europe. I've never heard of one that would hold up well for so long that is available in the U.S.

By the way, I discovered just this past weekend that my recent trip to South Africa had another benefit that I had not been sure of. I had sampled a wine made mostly of Colombard. Though I knew of the grape, I wasn't sure whether I had ever tasted it. I hadn't, which means that my trip to South Africa made it possible for me to document my 134th wine grape. Gotta love it!

I happened to be in a Crate and Barrel store today, so I asked what they do with their broken glass. The employee told me that they have lots of it but they are forbidden from giving it or selling it to customers. That's because of the potential liability if someone cuts themselves on the glass.

    Thank you, Shane!

I just now received the nicest Christmas present -- a box of broken glass sent by Shane. Thank you, Shane!

The glass is packaged so nicely in layers of heavy paper with each layer dedicated to pieces of a particular size that I didn't empty the box. Instead, I took a peek at everything just as an excited child would do before the parents have gotten up early Christmas morning. The box is now closed until I get around to photographing the pièces (literally!) de résistance. Thank goodness they weren't overly resistant; otherwise I would not have them to photograph.

Sorry for the late response Mike but very glad to hear that the package arrived safely in its multitude of pieces. I can't wait to see your photographic creation(s) from the pieces.

For others who might be reading this, the packaging was not quite as glamorous as Mike makes it out to be and it was surprisingly difficult to wrap my head around how to mail broken glass so that it doesn't break further I also find it quite humorous that that post office provided me with $50 worth of free insurance in case the package got lost or damaged. Mike and I could have had a nice lunch with those funds had we lived closer together and colluded on that one

I look forward to the day that we can have lunch together, brought out by collusion or not.

I can send you some empty coloured wine bottles you can break yourself. You might be creative enough to know how to break them while you are sober. I have three blues, 3 green ones, some light browns and a dark brown one...Want me to FED-Ex them to you?

That is so nice of you, Isabel.

You probably aren't aware that wine is one of my major hobbies. As an example, I have recorded 136 grapes that I have enjoyed and #136 -- sercial -- was consumed just yesterday for the first time. So, I have plenty of wine bottles of my own that I can break.

Thanks again for such a nice offer. Please keep me in mind if you accidentally break anything else.
