I like #4 as well, however...I submit that our accolades won't compensate for your period of agony.

Re: Stupidity brings its own reward!
Hi James
I'm glad you got some opportunities to take photos. Jersey looks like a photogenic place.
I like the contrast and detail of #1; I think you got it right in PP. I wonder if the rock partially visible on the left could have been cropped out, but that's a minor point.
I like the B&W treatment of #2. Could you have moved down the rocks and to the left to take a photo from a lower perspective? That also would have been interesting.
In #3, my eye is drawn to the lower half, whose arrangement of houses and hedges is interesting. But there's too much shadow in my opinion. Can you reduce the shadow, or change the B&W filter channels to bring them out?
I like the perspective of #4. It and #3 are my favourites. I think it could be improved if it were cropped to remove the vertical structure at the lower left.
Did you take any photos while walking along the path towards the lighthouse?
All in all this is a nice collection of photos. Thanks for posting them.

Re: Stupidity brings its own reward!
Christina, Bruce Mark, Thank you all
William, I do have a knack of being able to put myself to sleep and 'avoid' the worst, but trying to sleep/doze for that long did take effort... and Janet who never suffers mal de mer was only slightly sympathetic.
Tony, Jersey is interesting,, with Corbiere and Grosnez the wildest areas to the west of the isaland.
I take your point about #1 and will try a new crop. The current crop was influenced by my wanting to keep the little bay to the right in the frame.
As regards #2 I doubt I could have got lower at that point. I was on the edge of the cliff and the wind was gusting at 40-50 mph and fairly steady at 30, despite the fairly bright day.
I did walk down the path and took some other shots as I approached the lighthouse. (hence #4 ) , but I hadn't reckoned on the tide and the continually changing weather. The path is actually a causeway and 2 minutes after I got down, the klaxon sounded warning the path was due to be flooded.
The Grosnez image is very dark, and I struggled to get the shot I wanted. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon and very dull except for the sun breaking through across the sea to the SW. I was also drizzling with fairly strong continuous gusting.from the west. Not the best conditions and my reference to stupidity in the title probably should be changed to 'Hope springs eternal'. Not my best capture ever I must admit
