Re: cold feet
Hi Tony, a nice subject but both images are a bit soft/blurry. Not an easy animal to photograph, they move so fast.
A couple of things to consider for your next attempt.
1: try using a tripod, they make a world of difference.
2: I notice that your shutter speed was 1/160th and you were at the limit of the 300mm lens. As a general rule make sure your shutter speed is at least as fast or faster than the length of the lens. i.e. 300mm = 1/300th sec or faster. You then may need to up your iso to get a correct exposure.
Also I have a 18-270mm Tamron myself and I find that it is not easy to get tack sharp images at full zoom, I usually only go to 200-250mm and that seems to help a bit.
Don't be discouraged, get out there and keep trying. If you like bird photography you have jumped in the deep end here, to be honest I have never managed to capture a bird image that I was totally happy with but there are plenty examples of perfection here on CiC.
Good luck and look forward to seeing your next photo's.
Cheers, Greg
