1ST hdr image..dont bite my head off :)

Hi all... i attempted a little hdr work on my trip to my on laws... i've seen a few images of vehicles in hdr and i have to say,..for me..i think with vehicles...it works...so i tried it out..1st time. Firstly..my opinion on hdr..its FUN... but i find to many pple over saturate images..but,again..i've oversaturated this image..for me...i feel it works... so this is 5 images put into photomatix and i played around a little... i used a tripod.. and the way i went was with putting it into Aperture priority and then changed the Exposure comp each time..i know there are other ways...but im just starting.

For all the sceptics..yes... hdr seems overdone... and yes for us who arent complete pros..this still looks awesome!!!! I mean.. for beginners..to be able to blow highlights and have images full of shadows..and still get all the info out of it , what more could you want??? who needs filters ??? and polarizers!! and whatever!!

Anyway..i'd still like opinions... good and bad..especially from those who have attempted hdr..yes..theres alot happening in this image..but i like alot to happen in hdr images.

I will be putting some more up soon.

1ST hdr image..dont bite my head off :)

Claudio - Please do not apologise for experimenting and learning. Indeed, celebrate your willingness to try something out and learn new skills.

I agree with Donald, just go ahead and experiment Claudio.
Don't become a slave by trying to please others with your images, that is the route to frustration - make images 'you' like and if others like them too - then that is a bonus.
Now you are trying HDR imagery try to develop your own style.

Your tractor image is a great start and proves you have good capture technique so unleash your creative eye and keep trying new things. As you already know HDR is good for certain subjects - rusty vehicles, flaking paint etc as well as high contrast scenes.

I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your images.

Thank you guys..Donald amd Chris..thank you.. i will now push ahead with this..i suppose any reason to have a camera at the eye is a good reason . I've put the other image of the steering wheel in another post..its alot more controlled... thank you Bruce for the compliment.

One alternative that I sometimes use with HDR is to stack, and auto align, the shots as layers then apply a mask to each layer and edit it to include what is required from each layer.

But it does require suitable software and a bit of experimentation.

When it works well, that method is capable of avoiding the 'over processed look' which can sometimes occur with auto HDR processing.

    Hi Claudio,

I have never experimented with HDR and some examples I view I like and others I do not.

    This is one I like.

    Hi Claudio,
I have experimented with HDR as an alternative to using grad filters to reduce bright skies.

In general I prefer the natural look, but.... I do like this image. .... Very much!

Keep on experimenting. HDR is a technique/process just like any other, its what you do with it that counts.

Nice work Claudio. For me you have the balance just right in this shot. HDR can be over done but this I like.

Claudio, nice image. looks like fun. I have yet to try it. I think there are places that it would be easy to go overboard but this is not one of them! Have fun.
