    Pants

    Hey all,

I currently have an opportunity to work with a denim company that is starting up. Part of the work that I am doing them is more or less product photos that show their jeans for their website. Anyway this is one of the shots from the shoot the other day. I really have no experience with this kind of photography so its a new venture for me. CC would be helpful.

It's a really nice photo. However, if you hadn't explained it, I would have thought it was a product shot pertaining to a watch, not the pants.

Thanks. I think that its more than fair to say that. But for what its worth the image is displayed on their website so the viewer would know the product is the pants.

    Re: Pants

The pants look blurred. Do they have some kind of soft, brushed surface, or is that from PP?

Agree about removing the watch. Maybe get the model to put his hands in his pockets so he doesn't obstruct the jeans or confuse the focal point. Shooting the label up close with a macro lens and a tilt might product a nice, energetic shot with plenty of detail in the denim. Could be a cool banner shot for their web page.

    Re: Pants

I wonder if this might not put more emphasis on the jeans. If it were reshot, I would try to avoid the shadow on the label...
    Pants
If I were marketing the jeans, I would want a more distinctive leather label.
Also, if I shoot a product, I like to include a WhiBal card for correct color balance. I don't know if the color in my version is true or not. I suspect that it isn't...

    Agree. Watch distracting.

Sure it's on their website, but your input to them may make them appreciate you more.

Yes, the blurry pants and the razor sharp watch/arm seem backwards to me for the intended purpose.
