    At Last...Some Snow

As I was sitting on the road yesterday morning, 20 minutes from my destination waiting for the fire truck and the tow truck to remove the 3 vehicles from the ditch ahead of me, I grabbed a couple shots of our 1st snow. I love the snow but I hate it when it causes road closures that keep me from my job.

    C&C appreciated

I prefer the 1st one with the lighter finish on it. It was near white-out conditions most of the morning and I thought the first one conveyed that better. Thoughts??

    Hi Jon,

I think these are beautiful! (wonderful exposure, focus, detail and composition)

Of the two images, I prefer the 1st image as it seems more wintery to me... ie; whiter, chillier, and a prettier scene.

Thanks Christina. The only other good thing that came from yesterday morning was that I did not end up in the ditch also. I will take that as a bonus

It doesn't half fool around when it snows in Indiana! We have had intermittent snow for the last week and there is probably one third the accumulation you have from this one event.

i second Christina's choice. I prefer the concentration on the trees as an element over the corn. And you still get some of the corn in the first as well.

And I'm also delighted to know that you did not end up in the ditch, as it likely increases the probability of your posting some more winter scenes. I suppose Mr. Frog is in hibernation.

Nice Jon! I'll third the first image

I like the second shot but is doesn't have the same brightness as the first. You might also want to take a look at the sky in the second - it appears a bit blotchy which could be easily remedied with some selective blurring I think.

    Stay out of ditches OK?

Ironically we just got our first snow over the weekend as well. Well we actually got some back in September but it didn't stay and it hasn't been cold until the past few days. Interesting patterns in the foreground.

Thanks Trevor. Laporte is up near the southern shore of Lake Michigan, so they get quite a bit of "lake effect" snow

I have not seen Mr. Frog for some time now...I hope Mr. Heron didn't get him

Dan, the foreground is six inches of snow on the standing corn which I would venture to bet the farmer wishes he would have harvested a touch sooner.

I like the first one for the brightness and showing just the tops of the corn stalks, but I like the wider view of the second one.
