Rio de Janeiro - Botanical Garden

Dear fellows, I recently visited the botanical garden of Rio de Janeiro and picked these images to share with you. The garden was founded in 1808, by the King "João VI". He was the King of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves. The crown came to Brazil in 1808, when Napoleon invaded Portugal. Later, in 1822, with the Independence of Brazil, his son, "Dom Pedro I" would be the first Emperor of the Empire of Brazil. João VI died in 1826, in Lisbon. C&C welcomed. Thanks for viewing.

One and Five are my favorites and are very handsome, with lovely treatment of color and light. I think I can smell the humid emanations of growing vegetation when I look at them.

All of the images are very nice and I especially appreciate that you shared the background information.

I have to mention that your first and fourth photos are of a style that is challenging for many of us because it can be so difficult to use a composition that draws our eye into the scene. You have managed that challenge exceptionally well, making it appear is if there is no such challenge.

Mike, thank you very much for your feedback. You were precise and straight to the point. These two images, especially #4, were very hard to be captured/processed and they are the ones I am more proud of in these series. What our eyes see is usually not easily conveyed into a photograph, so, I am happy to have this job recognized. Thanks, again, mate!
