Seduction of Contraries: Feast and devotion - Uruguayan Sculptor

Hi. I was working on Downtown Rio de Janeiro this week. While killing some time, after work, I found this exhibition on Caixa cultural space (Caixa is one of the biggest state owned banks in Brazil). These are from the uruguayan sculptor Gustavo Nakle. It shows 200 ants walking over 35 famous art pieces. The exhibition was set up in a barely lit room, creating an interesting atmosphere, although making the pictures quite a challenge. Well, I hope you like it! C&C welcomed.

    First, some of the ants:

And below, a couple of sculptures and the scenario where the ants were walking on:

Really striking and interesting shots of creatively displayed beautiful objects. It seems to me that the problem yet to be solved is scale -

Beautiful processing of beautiful objects. Just wish I could see more details.

Hi, Mark. I appreciate your comments. Yes, maybe the lack of a reference point compromises the scale. That is one of the reasons I included the last two images. I think they help a little. By the way, these ants are about 15cm long.

Hi, Bobo. Thanks for passing by. More details would have come out if the room was more strongly lit (though, intentionally, for the exhibition, it was dark).

    Cheers,

    Hi Otávio,

I had no problem with scale as I know roughly how big the screw heads are (best seen in #4)

Given how little light you had, I think these are excellent - good exposure, choice of focus, etc.

    Well done,

In my imagination, you get that little kiddo that acts so fond of you in a shot with those, with his face in real close and it would be a cool set up for scale, and lots else.

Mark, I would do it but I think Vítor Hugo (my boy) would be affraid of those giant ants!
