clowns of the sea

These pixs were shot at Sibuan Island, part of the Tun Sakaran Marine Park where the famous Sipadan Island is located. I dived there to keep my certificate active and at the same time I took some shots of the above. As an Island it is beautiful but not much of pelagic life around the island.

These pixs were shot with a PnS Canon S95, Ikelite housing, +2 diopter, single strobe

Beautiful, rich collection... Such wonderful color and these seem perfectly exposed. I'm imagining (but have no real idea) that there might be interesting differences between what you get from your sensor in these settings compared to what you get from dry land shooting in terms of tonal range, WB, color saturation, etc.

This is the first time I am hearing such an interesting comparison. There is definitely differences. Once it's underwater (UW) we have to deal with the bluish-turquoise colours and the reds and brighter colours loses its vibrance. That is why strobe/s are an important part of an UW camera set up. With bluish background and lighted subject, it does make the photos look good or terrible (depending on the closeness of the subject).

John, yeah! it is always very satisfying after an incident free dive. The last time I dived I had to abandon the dives and it was worrying as I thought I might have to give it up. So, these few dives were to get back my confidence and for me to know that all is OK. These photos are a huge bonus.
