    Tribute in Light

Every year, the "Tribute in Light" is also a photography event. This year's 9/11, I had been seriously learning photography for almost one month. My Nikon D600 memory cards were full and I could not format them since I was still waiting LR from B&H to get RAW files out for the first time.

I took my old Canon Rebel XT and joined thousand others to shoot this once a year light.

Just finish editing them. C&C, Please.

#1 It was hard to find a parking around this area. Could not get on to the roof top where the lights were set.

You are to be congratulated on these images, which were not easy to shoot. I think Nos 1 and 3 are superb. Bravo!

I agree with everyone about the quality of the set. I have to add #5 to the often-mentioned #1 and #3.

In #5, check out the funny pattern about two-thirds up the left beam of light. It's probably something in the sky being lit up but it looks like a big piece of hair on your sensor. It would be easy to remove from the image.

I spent the whole night shooting these pictures. First, on NJ side, I walked on the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway to shoot the NYC skyline. Then, drove to Manhattan downtown to where the lights were set. Tried to get onto that parking garage roof top (#2). But it was closed that day. Did walk around a lot to find different angels. After that, drove to midtown, but failed to find any good spot to used the "Tribute in Light" as background. When I got back my home in NJ, it was almost 2:00 am, 9/12.

I do see many other body's picture of this light with The Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge etc. Next year, I need better planning for this event.

Mike, Thanks for pointing out the problem in #5. I just fix it.

Great set of photos Hui and what a wonderful opportunity having such an annual event as a photo challenge. Enjoy next year too.
