After cropping your shot click the canvas size option in the image section, There you can choose a size and colour I chose 5% and white but i often use a mid grey as it frames nicely I think, anyway play and find something you like, next step in the fx panel choose drop shadow, again you can choose to alter the size, darkness and direction of the shadow I used ,45% op,54deg,25dist,36spread,188size. then after that I added a "stroke" (line) around the outer edge of the picture but inside the frame. This again can be found in the fx menu and yes you can set it at any size and colour I used 3 px and black.
Hope that makes sense and helps a little, It's not as horribly complicated as it sounds and once you get the hang of all the sliders it can be done quickly, or even better set up an action for it and it's done with one touch, but thats another series of instuctions and I've got wine to open. . .
