    Another bird - sparrow

Continuing the bird theme from my crow thread, here is a sparrow shot. I'm not thrilled with the leaf on the bottom, nor the position of the main branch in front of the bird instead of behind, but you can't win every time

    Matt,

I just had to laugh when I read your comment. Last night I was shooting a Praying Mantis and the other half came into the room and asked me who I was talking to. I explained it was the Mantis and I was asking him to move to a different position as there was a leaf in front of the lens

This is a great capture and the leaf and branch do not detract anything from that.

I think that often people forget that they have a crop tool and they do not have to show everything that the camera produced ... that might have been the situation when we used 3Mp cameras but not these days. I also thought the vertical twig could be softer.

jcuknz / photo nut. You're ideas are something for me to think about, so thank you very much for taking the time to give your input! BTW, I had experimented with cropping off the leaf similar to what you have done, but I did not like the resulting crop / shape of the photo. Just a personal opinion, however your point is legitimate. On a final note, while I'd prefer people ask me before editing my photos to repost, I do appreciate your input and suggestions, so it's not a big deal in this case.

Nice shot and composition. I like the softer upright which appears to give the bird a bit more depth.
