It is interesting for everybody calling things by their names. Users can say 'door' when they mean 'table', but this doesn't make a table be a door.

There is no problem with people using HDR software to do something that has no link to dynamic range, the problem is most of them don't know this. This section is called 'High Dynamic Range', and the OP titled his post 'New idea for HDR'.

I agree; but when does it become HDR? I think a dslr can manage 11 ev span but mostly 4 ev of it is used to avoid posturization, and above 7 ev noise makes shadows difficult to raise. So something could be called HDR if it has above 7 ev span but intuitively I think HDR starts at above 9 ev span.

Some but not many of these tone maps look attractive but can hardly be called original, and I will concentrate on making my HDR true HDR and as close to reality as possible. cheers

If someone takes the door from his place and puts it horizontally to cook and eat on it the door receives a new function as Viagra and as HDR software .The name of the door remains the same but the function is changed for a moment but that seems to be very hardly to understand. About an image someone could tell "I like it or I dislike it" but not I dislike the process to obtain that image because that image is not a theft from a pocket.I could not say that HDR is the World Center and this

I agree with you Radu Dinu, though I think you should consider the exact meaning of the words and terms you use. HDR as itselves does not mean anything different than a image build up from multiple (3 for example) different exposure to enlarge the dynamic range. Whether you use tonemapping for make the HDR into a as realistic looking image as possible, make it as dramatic and 'artistic' as you like or use it to do any of above for a single exposure raw file.

I agree you may (and definitely should!) pp your photo the way you want it, and everybody like they want it to but keep the meaning of HDR in its basics in mind when doing so.
    same is for S(mal)DR's

If you put a door horizontally and use it as a table, you know it is a door being used as a table, and thus this door has no place in a forum section called 'doors', but in a forum section called 'tables'. The intended use of the door is what matters, not the origin.

In the same way an image obtained making use of HDR software but having no link to dynamic range, has no place in a section called 'High Dynamic Range'. It could have a place in a section called 'Graphical art', 'Digital imaging' or whatever.
