Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

I spent the weekend at a University of Tennessee photography workshop at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

We were fortunate to witness a demonstration of a traditional Shaker worship dance. I got this portrait after the performance.

I think this is a beautiful portrait.

Can I suggest you might want to give one of your two threads 'Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill' a different name. Having two threads of the same name, albeit the are in different sections of the forum, migth cause confusion fro people, particularly those who views post via 'Latest Threads' or 'New Posts'

The lighting is very nice. I do like the image so take my unqualified comments lightly as I vary slightly from other comments.

The expression of the subject.... I don't get, is she waiting for something? Almost like she's waiting to hear bad news?
I do find the blue thing coming out of top of her head odd, though I think I'm just OCD about things like that. Lord knows I have taken many photos with things coming out of people's heads, and I'm sure I will do it again!
I'm not sure if her skin is really that color or if you were going for that look or something else. Appears too yellow on my screen.
Many would call this warm light and would like it.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to view and comment. I really appreciate it.

Brian - this shot is posed, and she is looking out a window just out of the frame to camera left. I'm not sure what she's expressing, but I thought the gesture was good. I guess maybe I'd say reflective or pensive. The blue thing is the next window down the wall, and I'll have to admit that I didn't even notice it. You're right though, I should remove it. The skin color is intentional. I used a half-cut CTO gel on my flash. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the info Cliff. I hadn't considered a gel had been used. The effect was as intended then, well done.
