This weekend was great for Pelicans usually they dive straight down for fish but for some reason this weekend they were hitting the water at angle. Sometimes the would only fly about three feet and dive in again, it made for fun photography and I got a bunch of shots. I'll edit and post more soon (Christina) but here are a couple.

I was back in Illinois a couple weeks ago, and my dad was showing me that they had a bunch of pelicans on the lake. I guess they were resting on their migratory path. Unfortunately I left my house in Arizona without my camera so I wasn't able to take any pictures. They are some cool birds.

Thank you. All lovely but I especially love the pose/action captured in the 1st image and also the 2nd... I have a few of the 2nd pose myself so nice to know someone else appreciates these

Agreed, all great photos!
I have noticed their 'short' dives also here in Florida. Is it like Thanksgiving and there is just too much food they can't help themselves but to dive into another 1 even tho they are not very high up?
Am on the hunt for diving pelicans also .....I did get a great one of a wing tho
