the kit doesn't have to break the bank

I was trying to put a cloth flash reducer on my camera. my wife suggested a white cotton babies mitten would slip right on and even be able to be secured with the tie string. 75 cents later this is the result. Aside from the crop there is no PP. This is just the way it came out of the camera.

This is the same photo after i attempted to PP it in RawTherapee.

The result looks good to me. Three cheers for a creative solution.

this will sound corny in the extreme but one of the reasons I married Myra nigh on 25 years ago was her mind. Over the decades and centuries she has had a lot more good ideas than bad.

    Brian,

Good one. You say cotton mitten, are you referring to a white cotton similar to a bed sheet?

I bet you never thought of taking one pic with it fitted and one without. The other advantage of the flash of course is that it will help freeze movement.

No not like a bed-sheet. It is very thin and light. More like a material you would or could use to strain sediment from wine. Didn't have to take it off as yesterday I was shooting the same species and perhaps the same caterpillar without a flash in bright sunlight. Hands down this is superior.

Nice even light and not harsh. It's fun to find things to use to balance the light!
